Pensionado: US $1000 per month income from permanent pension source or retirement fund

Rentista: Requires proof of deposit of US $60,000 in an approved bank, with $2,500 withdrawn every month. OR, proof of US$2,500 per month verifiable, stable, permanent unearned income such as bank interest, annuity, public company dividends for at least 2 years.

Investor: Investment of US$200,000 in a business or property.

Spouse of Costa Rican: Must provide documentary proof of the marriage’s validity, such as photos, proof of cohabitation, and communication between spouses.

Parent of Costa Rican: Having a Costa Rican child

Work Permit - Employee: generally only available to domestic and agricultural workers. Other highly specialized and limited cases may also apply.

Work Permit - Employer: for those who own and manage a Costa Rican company with business license, sanitation permit, income certification, company income taxes, Caja (CCSS) registration etc.

Citizenship / Naturalization: by marriage, length of official residence, or by descent
