One question we get often is, how long…
The travel restrictions that we are all experiencing will end, the borders will reopen and people will start traveling again.
If you had decided to obtain your residency in Costa Rica before everything was shutdown, you should be aware that there will most likely be a backlog of work for the Migración offices and for any residency service company as well (which includes us!).
We strongly recommend that you start preparing the required documents for your residency application (such as birth certificates and criminal record checks) as soon as possible from your local government offices. Check out general residency requirements for Costa Rica.
It is better to be prepared than to rush at the last minute!
As of this writing, we have an expectation that the Migración offices in Costa Rica will re-open on July 20. We are putting a priority on our residency applications in the following order:
- Applications that were in process prior to the the shutdown of services.
- Clients that have submitted their residency applications during the shutdown.
This equates to a “First Come, First Served” policy.
